What to expect at Roodkapje?
Roodkapje offers a unique multidisciplinary breeding ground for young talent in a dynamic, riotous and multi-voiced program. Our location is a:
concert hall | anarchive | artist residency | hamburger restaurant | nightclub | exhibition venue
The cultural program happens in every nook and cranny and from noon till the early morning hours. We believe a hamburger can be art and celebrate both the low- and the high brow. We travel beyond existing art forms and break through boundaries and binaries
So you are moving house?
Yes! We moved to Keileweg 10A in Rotterdam West. A cosy industrial hang out spot surrounded by places like de Voedseltuin, Brutus, Kunst & Complex and Praxis.
Our grapevines are starting to create a nice green blanket on our old house where we welcome you for concerts, exhibitions, gatherings and delicious snacks.
Two locations for a while
Our central location at Delftseplein 39 served as a meeting place for many years, along with our beloved Burgertrut (R.I.P.). Before the Schieblock evicts all cultural places, we will continue to use this location till the summer of 2026. Afterwards we are only alive in oyr new-old house at Keileweg 10A

Accessibility
Roodkapje West is situated in an old building. The café, concert space and exhibition space are on ground level, there are small steps at the doors, but we have a ‘quite’ accessible back entrance, there’s a small bump upon entree and we are glad to help you come over it if needed. We also have a ramp that we can attach to the front door entrance when needed. The ramp is 183 cm long and can hold 270 kg. The ramp is quite steep, our staff would gladly assist wheelchair users to get up. It is too steep for a mobility scooter, please keep in mind we do not have an accessible toilet present in the building, but we share one with our neighbours Brutus.
We have free earplugs at the bar to protect your ears agains loud noise(s).
Events at Roodkapje can be accompanied by intense bright lights and stroboscopic effects.
The concert space has standing places. It is always possible to create a seat, speak to us and we will place a bar stool next to the sound engineer or a folding chair along the stage for you.
If you have accessibility questions or if we can help you in any way, please don’t hesitate to contact us at: love@roodkapje.or

What’s the history of Roodkapje?
Roodkapje was founded in Rotterdam in 2000 by Eric den Hartigh. Starting out in Eric’s hair salon on the Witte de Withstraat, Roodkapje soon grew out to be a subversive and sometimes nomadic organisation responsible for grand interdisciplinary events like Winterwolven, Reject Radicals Festival and Root Camp. During the hairsalon days the cultural program was largely paid for by the profit earned with cutting hair, this entrepreneurial spirit is what still characterizes us and what strives us to continue to create and make space for art, music and (vegan) food. Over the years, Roodkapje has grown into a multidisciplinary platform for presentation and talent support for young artists, musicians, performers and programmers in the heart of Rotterdam.
